Trains & Buses

The Deutsche Bahn and Bayerische Regionalbahn are responsible for the regional and long distance trains. You can get onto regional and long distance trains from the Augsburg Central Station. You can also get onto regional trains at the following stations: Haunstetter Straße/FH, Hochzoll, Morellstraße and Augsburg-Oberhausen. You can purchase tickets online, at a ticketing counter or machine at the train station, or from a travel agency. You will have to pay a service fee if you purchase your ticket from a travel agency or at the ticketing counter. Please note that you will generally not be able to purchase a ticket on board the train.

The Deutsche Bahn offers various options for reducing travel costs. Savings prices are available to those who book in advance and travellers with a BahnCard 25 or 50 receive a 25% or 50% discount on normal prices. You can also purchase a “Bayern-Ticket” (Bavaria Ticket), “Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket” (Across the Nation) or “Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket” (Nice Weekend Ticket). These tickets allow 1-5 persons to travel on one ticket. The Bavaria Ticket is valid in Bavaria on any weekday. The Across the Nation Ticket is valid across Germany Mon-Fri. The Nice Weekend Ticket is valid across Germany for one weekend. Detailed information can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website.
