The city of Augsburg is located in the South of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the third biggest city in the Federal State Bavaria after Munich and Nuremberg. In addition, Augsburg is one of the oldest cities in Germany, looking back to a history of over 2,000 years.

Augsburg brought forth many famous people like the merchant families Fugger and Welser, Rudolf Diesel and Bertolt Brecht.
