Application process for Free Movers


Your application step by step:

 

1. Online application

When?
for winter semester: starting mid-May / end of May
for summer semester: starting mid-November / end of November


What?
Please complete the Registar's Office's (Studentenkanzlei) online application form.

Please note:

  • The online application form is not completed until your applicant number is generated.
  • After completing the form, your data will be saved at the applicant database. However, your application will not be completed until submitting the written application (see 2.).
  • After completing the form, a PDF will be generated, the so-called "Request for admission" ("Antrag auf Zulassung"), which you will need for the written application (see 2.).


2. Written application

What?
The following documents must be submitted per post:

  • completed "Request for admission" (= hard copy of the online application PDF)
  • accepted German certificate (Please find here a list of accepted certificates. The list is available in German only.)
  • diploma of secondary school
  • if available: university certificates or transcripts of records

Please note:

  • The documents must be submitted in German, English or French.
  • Only authorized translations by sworn translaters are admitted.
  • From applicants from China, Mongolia and Vietnam an APS certification is required.

Please note:

  • For majors with numerus clausus, these dates are a limitation period!
  • Applications for majors without numerus clausus can be submitted until end of September resp. March, if German knowledge is proofed by one of the accepted certificates already.
